A team of teacher trainers, officials and VVOB staff participated at the first Global Learn conference in Penang, Malaysia from 17 to 20 May 2010. Central themes of the conference were the integration of ICT in education, the impact of ICT on classroom pedagogies and the role of distance and mobile learning in education.
The VVOB team presented two papers on the conference. One on the bumpy ride towards the integration of student centered approaches in science education and one on the development of the dvd boxes to support teacher training. Both presentations were well received and lead to useful contacts.
After the conference a workshop was organized to transfer findings to all teacher trainers at the college. Central themes were discussed by conference participants in a panel debate and afterwards a world café was set up to discuss the lessons learned and action points of the conference.
