The SEAL programme of VVOB Cambodia organised a second workshop on student centred approaches for science education from May 28 until June 1, 2010.  Teacher trainers presented science reasoning techniques and low-cost experiments to their colleagues from the practice schools.  Besides presentations there was a lot of time for trying out, discussion, feedback and… catching up with a healthy snack!

The first two days were focused on biology and earth science, the last two days on physics and chemistry.  At the end of the workshop every school got a box with the materials needed to do all the experiments in the classroom.  In October lesson observations will be done by teacher trainers together with the VVOB team and in December a follow-up workshop is planned. The objectives of these workshops are to improve facilitation skills of the teacher trainers and to bring teachers from the practice schools up to speed with VVOB’s activities.
