In June 2015 a group of experienced science and mathematics teacher trainers from Kampong Cham, Pursat and Battambang travelled to north-eastern Cambodia to coach their peers in science and mathematics. During this exchange workshop, the teacher trainers shared ideas on teaching aids and methodology.

Exchange workshop

The mathematics and science teacher trainers of two north-eastern provinces, Stung Treng and Kratie, got the opportunity to learn from their peers from other provincial teacher training colleges during an exchange workshop in Stung Treng. All teacher trainers came well prepared to the session. They brought along a series of mathematical teaching aids, science experiment materials, lesson plans and own developed manuals. And they were ready to share the materials on which they were proud of.

Outcomes

In the mathematics group, demonstrations and try-outs were held on a variety of teaching aids such as 3D shapes, fraction circles, and wooden area boards. But also in the science group, people were strongly active as they experimented and tried out science activities. The teacher trainers inspired each other and all left motivated to try it out in their own classroom.

Future plans

"Please keep organising the exchange workshop with different provinces," a group of teacher trainers requested. And that is exactly what is already planned later in the year. And of course also the implementation of the new gathered ideas will be followed up.
